Meet Elder Joshua Avery

Joshua Avery was born in San Antonio, Texas, lived much of his early life in Maryland, and moved to Utah in 2008. He graduated from Herriman High School in 2014.

Josh is the second son, and the third of seven children born to Doug and Shannon Avery. His older sister, Hannah, is serving in the Chile Vina del Mar Mission until February 2015, and his older brother, Jake, is serving in the Peru Lima West Mission until July 2015. He also has a younger brother, Jared, and two younger sisters, Rebekah and Abigail.

Josh is a talented musician, singing, playing cello and guitar, and performing in musical theater. He also competed and placed in State DECA and Debate competitions, advancing to the national level in DECA. Josh also loves soccer and rugby. After his mission, he plans to attend Utah Valley University, pursuing a degree in Political Science.

In May 2014, Josh received his call to serve as a full time missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was assigned to labor in the Singapore Mission, speaking Mandarin Chinese.
