Received Packages from Home - Elder Jake Avery

Written by Elder Jacob Avery, serving in the Peru Lima West Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, speaking Spanish.

I got your packages this week!! Just in time for Halloween :) I forgot to take a picture of me in Peru for the Christmas card, but I'll do it today. Just keep on sending music when you have time. It's really awesome!

Okay, well, to answer your question, we have billions of investigators. The really hard part is that people have to make choices for themselves. Very few actually progress. I live in an area where the Jehovah's Witnesses are out everyday, and the Evangelists every other day, while half of the congregation of the the true Church of Jesus Christ are not active. The people work and work and work, and very seldom have time to hear a lesson, let alone go to church.

A family that I feel is special is the C** family (name omitted for privacy). Their dad is named Moses, and he is friends with a member of the church. His family recently lost their home, so they're living in a tent with their five kids. We bought the kids some candy for Halloween and gave them some stickers. They're so cute, and they just play around like nothing is out of the ordinary. Moses is very interested in the church and always thought that one day Jesus would again manifest himself to men, but didn't realize that day had already come. He was also very excited to hear that the gold plates were translated into a book that we could give him for free.

Well, I'm out of time!. I love all of you guys. I hope you have a great week. Enjoy the snow :P Abi looks great as Queen Amidala, and why does Jared get to drive the Camry?! Tell Josh to keep up the awesome work and to write me, for crying out loud!

The church is true, and requires the efforts of every one of us. President Monson can't do everything by himself. We rely on everyone! Love you, again!
